Human hydatid disease caused by the larva! stage of echinococcus granulosus is endemic in Turkey. Priınary cardiac echinococcosis is rare due to natural resistance to the presence of viable hydatid cyst provided by contractions of the heart. Its ineidence is about 0.5 to 2 % of patients with echinococcosis. In this study, we report a child with primary cardiac hydatidosis without visceral involvement diagnosed by echocardiography. Urgent surgical intervention combined with medical therapy resulted in a successful outcome with no recurrence at the end of one year of follow-up period.
